"Apple Triplets"

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Oil on 1/4" Board, 6"x6". SOLD.

I was drawn to these Granny Smith Apples when I saw them in the store. As I may have mentioned in the past, I find mixing green colors challenging. Maybe it's because I only mix yellow and blue and don't use any tube green colors. I am curious to hear how others achieve their greens. I am very happy with the variety of warm and cool greens that make up this subject.

Nice handling of greens, if you ask me. I agree that it is difficult to handle--why is that? Like you, I rarely use a pre-mixed green, though lately I've been using a tube of Permanent Green in some of my mixtures.

Nice, confident painting, Michael.

You greens are great - if you struggle it sure doesn't show. I use tube green sbut I am so impressed with the vibrancy of your mixed greens I may change my way of thinking.

wasnt it Sargent who said "if you can paint green, you can paint anything"? Great job. love that apple green color. I mix my own green too, just cant seem to find that "cant leave home without it" tube green :-)
