Punch Buggy

Oil on 1/8" Gessoboard. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

This is a scene from LA when I was there over Memorial Day weekend. I was driving in my friend's car and saw this bug on the side of the road. I wiped out my camera and took this photo. He probably thought I it was strange since it wasn't a major landmark or a tourist attraction. Oh well, I like how this painting turned out.

He looks so lonely. Not even a meter to keep him company. So much emotion in this little painting.

I had that car. Only it was butter yellow, my first car. Rusted out in 7 years of Vermont winters, but wow, we went some places in it...thanks for the painting!

Hi there
I have a buggy which is older than this one, and love it. Where does the term "punch buggy" come from? I have been punched half-blue by my children over the years whenever they see a vw beetle. We live in South Africa and I would like to know where this tradition started?

I love your painting, the car looks alive.
