Detached

Oil on 1/8" Gessoboard. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

This setup seemed to defy the norm when it comes to light and shadow. The tomato didn't really have a shadow area. Instead that area was close to the local color and light/midtones were lightened to accommodate. I hope that makes sense. Just know that it was weird but interesting to view.

  1. Wonderful painting. Very realistic.
What kind of artistic background do you come from? I sense some classical sensibilities.

  4. I love this tomato painting! I haven't been by your blog in a few months - since the crow painting - and clearly i've missed a lot of great stuff. I love your brushwork!

  5. Love that warm gray against the bright red and that squiggly green stem gives it so much interest!
