Reflecting Apples

Oil on Board. Approx 16"x8" SOLD

Another new piece for Susan Powell Fine Art. I began the initial block-in for this painting at the demonstration I did a few weeks ago. This piece has come a long way since that night. Lot's of refining.

Usually apples in a still life present a benign image, but I can't say that about this painting. The "personality" of the knife is anything BUT benign. This is not one I would hang in a cheery kitchen. Maybe an edgy one! If you do a series, perhaps the next one has an apple with a narrow white crisp slice out of it - wounded.
Intense and beautiful work.

That knife is just so good. It lifts the apples way above mundane. Wonderful work.
