I found this baseball while raising the canopy of my evergreen tree. Tree is huge and old so there is no way of telling how old this ball is. All I know is it was dirty and I was compelled to try to capture that grit.

You did capture it quite well. Thought provoking subject for me who has decided to work some still lifes into my painting. I don't like elaborate set ups. The simplity of this is very appealing.
