I got this little creamer from my wifes Grandma's garage sale stuff and had to take it. I don't have anything like it and thought it would work in a painting. This painting had it's challenges but I am very happy with the outcome. This is post number 160 on my Daily Painting blog.

We threw a party on this Holiday weekend and, of course, woke up to mess. I had to capture the light on these bottles. Painting glass usually has it challenges but these were different because of their colors and how they are backlit. This is kind of a sketch. I can see revisiting this in a larger format later on. This painting was one of those that just felt good. I got lost in it and before I knew it I was done. The paint seemed to flow better and the color subtlties are more than usual. This is post number 155 in my Daily Painting blog.

Well it's almost 2AM on day 2 and I'm finally finished. I am not used to painting this large so it was quite a difference from my usual daily paintings. I am also very happy with the outcome and plan on some larger pieces in the future. Oh yeah, sorry for the horrible photo.

I usually don't post progress shots because I finish my paintings in one sitting. This one, however, is too big for me to finish in one day. It's 13.25" square and I built this oak "frame" so it's ready to hang. I haven't even blocked the whole board in yet and my day is almost up. I still have some charcoal lines showing. There is a long way to go and I hope to finish it tomorrow night.

Well today is my birthday so no painting tonight but I thought I would share a recent commission. Actually it's a gift for my Mom...kind of an early Mother's Day gift. Anyway she likes green olives.

Here is the second of the 2 portraits. It was kind of nice to take a break from the brush and pick up the pencil again. I didn't realize how much I missed using graphite and the intentional cross-hatched layering to give such a smooth tone.

Previous Daily Painting from February 27, 2007. This painting was entered in a Naperville Art League competition. Some of you had asked how the painting did and I am proud to say it won Honorable Mention. I didn't want to put it up for auction until after the show ended and now is that time.
