Pair On Top

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 8"x16" FRAMED - SOLD

This is a larger painting that is framed with a gorgeous silver frame which really makes the pears stand out. I've had this composition in my mind for a while and finally got it out on board. I'm very happy with the final product.

Red Velvet

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

This is the second commission from the same person. It is my first red velvet cupcake painting and I loved capturing those colors. I might have to do another.

Cream Filled

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

This is the first of 2 commissions. Stay tuned for the companion piece. ALSO, I want to tease a project I am planning. I can't give any details at this time but after I catch up a bit on the 5 commissions and a couple of gallery paintings, I will hit the ground running with the new "secret" project.

This painting is being offered framed with the beautiful Catalina Black with Gold (floater) from the Randy Higbee Gallery in California. They have superb frames and do quality work.

Basking Bunny

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6"

I caught this little guy catching some sun in my backyard. Lucky. If you view the auction, there is an awesome rollover zoom feature that DailyPaintworks has implemented to its site. Finally it's a breeze to view close-up brush strokes.

Left Out

Oil on 1/8" Board. Approx 6"x6"

I wanted to emphasize these objects coming out of the darkness. That meant it was all about subtleties.

Apple Bottom

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6"

I wanted to do a different take on the apple wrapped in a cloth...so I flipped it upside down. There is just as much interest on the bottom than on the top. Or at least that is what I tried to prove.

Young Magnolia

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 4.125"x7" SOLD

This is a painting I've been thinking about for a few weeks. Ever since the Magnolia trees started budding in my area. I caught this one at the perfect stage of starting to bloom.

Over the Top

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

Two of my favorite parts of this painting are the stem and the reflected light. I always try to push the reflected light in my paintings because it adds so much drama.

A Single Single

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6"

What really attracted me to this composition was the cast shadow on the wall. If I got that shadow right, it would imply that the dollar was crinkled a bit.

Green Stripe

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

I've been searching for a while to find a red pear that was good enough to paint. All of them have been dark red and boring looking. This one, however, made it worth the wait. The only one with a distinct green stripe and a lighter shade of red. Nice. I'll paint that one.

Wire Crossing

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

I love how these wires seemed like a tangled mess. This was one of the demos I did this past weekend. I was fortunate enough to have a gentleman fly in from Turkey to do a 3-day workshop with me. It was an honor and pleasure.

Standing Tall

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 3.125"x4" SOLD

As soon as I pulled this cork out of the bottle, the merlot color was singing. I knew right then that I had to paint it. This auction is being hosted by Daily Paintworks instead of Ebay. Anyone can bid, but in a few weeks any artists who wants to list their paintings with DPW will be able to do that as well!! They are art specific, art friendly, and significantly cheaper than Ebay.

Scenic Route

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6"

This is a road I drive on everyday on my way to and from work. It's a slow speed limit with plenty of scenery. I love this route. It's one of 2 paintings that is hanging in the Randy Higbee Gallery 6" Squared show which opens tonight. If you are interested in purchasing, you may contact the gallery direct. If you are in the Costa Mesa, CA area (unfortunately i am not) stop by and check out the almost 500 paintings juried in the show.

The Greener Side

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 8"x12" SOLD

This painting just shipped to Susan Powell Fine Art today. This composition makes me think that the two top pears are peeking down to see what the green pear is up to. Almost out of jealousy or curiosity.

On a side note...as most of you know, I do mostly small paintings that are right around 6"x6". Lately I've been doing more and more larger pieces for gallery obligations. Not huge but still bigger than the usual, so for me this requires a bit of a different setup as far as lighting and easel, etc. I recently acquired a set of lights that includes a Lamp and Stand as well as an additional Clip on Lamp from The Daylight Company. It could be tricky buying lights for the studio but these are great. They simulate the most natural light (which for me is good because I paint mostly at night), are easy to maneuver, they have extra long cords and they don't get hot (even when they are on for hours at a time). AND they come with bulbs so they're ready to use right out of the box. Click here to read more technical stuff about them. Below is a picture of them in my studio in front of a work in progress. Check them out...highly recommended.

I thought this title was most fitting.

Red Stripe

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

I love picking out fruit for their unique features. I'm that guy who sits in the pear section and looks at way too many of them before I decide on which one I'm buying.

This is my entry for the new Daily Paintworks Challenge which benefits JAPAN. This is a huge deal because the auctions are all help on DPW so 100% of the money goes to the charity. No fees and free posting AND it's open to anyone. I strongly urge anyone and everyone to post a painting to the new challenge to help those in need.

Asian and Bosc

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

The one on the left is an Asian pear. It tasted like a perfect cross between an apple and a pear. Strange but good.

Three Figs

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 10"x10" SOLD

A little larger painting today. I absolutely love the color variety in these figs, but most of all I love how they transition into one another. That was the painting challenge.

Behind the Flower

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

A collector of mine once suggested this as a subject. It took me way too long to finally paint it. I personally think it's a more interesting view than a typical flower.

Pewter With Pear

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

Pewter. That is a strange metal. It's not shiny and has a antique look to it. I think this is the first pewter piece I've used in a still life..and it won't be the last. Stay tuned.

Bagged Apple

Oil on 1/4" Board. Approx 6"x6" SOLD

This was one of those challenges that artists love. Really painting what you see. It's not an apple in a bag, it's a grouping of colors and values. Interesting.
